Tena Tatou Katoa e Te Whanau

Firstly, thank you to everyone for the outstanding response to our Online Survey assisting us to prepare for 'Distance Learning Online'. All teachers have prepared their online learning programmes and these will be ready to commence tomorrow. As I am sure you are all aware, we will remain Alert Level 4 Lockdown until 11.59pm Friday 27 August. The school is prepared to continue to deliver Distance Learning if the lockdown is extended.

Me mihi atu, ka tika ki a koutou katoa.

Tomorrow we will be handing out devices to Parents / Whanau between 10.00am and 2.00pm. To remain contactless, we will be giving out all devices at the bottom school gate. To avoid congestion, we kindly ask that you enter from the Hiruharama Marae end, and exit at the Totaranui end. We also ask that you remain in your vehicle and please wear a mask. We have a device agreement for Parents / Whanau to sign - one copy for you and one for the school.

Our IT Technician, Shaun Swanepoel has advised that he can be contacted on Mobile 027 5686874, if you have any technical issues regarding devices.

Thank you so very much for your support.

Tena Tatou Katoa e Te Whanau

With the country at Alert Level 4 until 11.59pm Tuesday 24 August, Te Kura o Hiruharama remains closed for instruction onsite. We would like to advise the following…

  • To assist us with preparation for providing for Distance Learning online, we are asking all Whanau to complete the following survey (see link below). Please complete a separate survey per child.

Thank you to our Whanau who have already done this.

  • All Distance Learning opportunities for individual classes will be made available on the school website from Wednesday 25 August www.hiruharama.school.nz until further notice.

  • The Ministry of Education has developed new websites to support teachers, learners, parents and whanau with their children’s learning at home. These are…

- Learning from home

- Ki te Ao Marama

- Ideas for Parents to help their children with their learning

  1. We do not know what decision will be made on Tuesday 24 August by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern regarding Alert Level Lockdown, however, we have decided as a school to plan for an extension to the Lockdown period and be prepared to provide for Distance Learning online.

If a device is required, Parents/Whanau will be able to come to school and collect these on Thursday 26 August between 10.00am and 2.00pm. We ask that on arrival to school you remain in your vehicle and we will bring the equipment to you. Please wear a mask.

You will need to sign an agreement on receipt of the device.

Thank you for your support.
